Well, this is refreshing. ELLE's October issue (which drops September 20) features actual models on the cover--and not just any models. They're Victoria's Secret angels, all wearing swimwear. On four separate covers, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, and Chanel Iman are styled to the hilt in 80s inspired swimwear. It gets a little racier inside, with just as many accessories and a lot more skin showing in the editorial.
US Weekly reports that the shoot was lensed by Alexei Hay and styled by creative director Joe Zee. ELLE's EIC Robbie Myers said, "We felt it was time to show the sexy side of fashion again, enlisting four of the runway's super seductive models." Seductive, indeed. "These covers harken to what made ELLE ELLE: Shot outside, drenched in sunlight, color, and of course accessories, the women look right back at you with all the personal and sexual confidence in the world," Myers added.
US helpfully points out that three of the four models (Doutzen, Miranda, and Adriana) have all given birth in the last two years. That detracts from our own personal confidence just a tad, but the pics are colorful and fun to look at. With dismal magazine sales in the past year, glossies need to figure out how to make people buy again. A bunch of gorgeous girls in swimwear should do the trick.
