Nasty Gal is seeking a Fashion Content Editor who is as excited about our fans as we are! We are looking for a creative, in-the-know manager who is on top of digital and fashion trends, and who also has editorial, creative writing or blogging experience. In this role, you will act as a blog manager/editor, assist with special events, and manage all copywriting processes for product descriptions, email campaignsand contests. You will have the opportunity to work with an extremely talented new team of designers and image-makers to relaunch the Nasty Gal blog and increase our social media presence. You’ll be collaborating with bloggers, interviewing cool girls, and travelling when needed. The Fashion Content Editor reports directly to the Creative Director. There is definite room for growth into a potential director or brand management role as the company evolves.
Responsibilities Content Development, Writing and Editing • Daily management of blog and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, Vimeo),ensuring content and editing maintain brand integrity. • Maintain monthly editorial calendar for all social media content coordinating with marketing and business initiatives. Ensure the consistency of social media posting based on the calendar. • Partner with e-commerce team to review statistics and ensure marketing needs are being met and best practices are implemented. This includes creative solutions for generating new traffic, improving conversion, SEO, plugins and commenting systems, etc. • Write creative posts and interviews, and source cool/on-brand topics and subjects for inclusion into the calendar. Provide non-stop ideas and expertise for future content initiatives and potential collaborations. • Monitor the competition and plan for change as the social media landscape continues to change rapidly. • Develop and manage blogger outreach and brand ambassador programs. • Contact and communicate with outside talent for interviews, gifting, guest posting, and events. Represent the brand in an enthusiastic manner, and deal with talent negotiations as they arise. • Lead the representation of Nasty Gal to customers via social media. Ensure issues and feedback are monitored and coordinate with customer service department as needed. • Assist with special projects as they arise. This will include the launch of a new label, events such as Fashion’s Night Out and Fashion Week, pop-up shops, etc.
Management • Manage current team of two writers/social media associates. This includes all standard administrative tasks related to managing employees. • Provide leadership by using expertise and personal skills to positively connect with employees and guide them to reach department and company objectives. Conduct reviews, offer coaching and structured feedback, and establish goals for performance. • Oversee timeliness, accuracy and messaging of projects through all stages of content development. Edit and proofread submitted copy to meet established tone, theme, and style consistency requirements. • Monitor writing team to handle online customer feedback by listening to what the users are saying, reading comments, and responding in an appropriate and timely manner.
Qualifications • BS/BA degree in Communications, Journalism or related field related experience in a professional environment. • Excellent writing skills - must have an editorial sensibility and an excellent command of the written word (spelling, grammar, sentence structure). • Experience in the digital space, producing fashion content or other content relative to the Nasty Gal customer base, and knowledge of the style world. • Creative, diplomatic, and super-cool under pressure. You will be representing Nasty Gal to outside talent, as well as interfacing directly with customers via social media! Must be able to represent Nasty Gal to the media, and liaison between the brand and bloggers or other guest talent. • MUST have leadership experience and the ability to manage teams to meet deadlines, while also motivating and exciting them about their roles at NG.
