After years of giving presentations instead of runway shows (which we can attest were swarmed, crowded, dizzying affairs), Tory Burch celebrated her first runway show ever yesterday, in a sun-drenched room at Alice Tully Hall. Top-tier models--Arizona Muse, Lindsey Wixson, Fei Fei, Liu Wen--strolled the runway muliple times.
Those who love the brand and that uber-recognizable stacked "T" logo will be thrilled with this latest collection. Having a 20s flapper vibe, complete with fringed raffia (which adorned dresses and bags) and drop-waist dresses, the whole collection gave off an easy Great Gatsby vibe.
Dresses--tiered and lightly ruffled--featured dot prints and stripes. Wavy striped sequin dresses were cut loosely, giving the message, "Wear me with flip-flops!" Tory even tiptoed into evening wear, offering a few long chiffon gowns, easily at home at both a Hamptons barbecue or a charity dinner.
With her new NYC flagship and a perfume deal in the works, Tory's ladies are taking over the world, one colorful look at a time.
