Miranda Kerr popped by the Victoria's Secret on 58th and Lexington Ave. today to pose next to the $2.5 million bra she'll be wearing at the Victoria's Secret runway show on November 9 (airing on November 29 on CBS). Kerr is the 16th Victoria Secret Angel to wear the multi-million dollar Fantasy bra, and it's the first time she's been given the honor.
The "Fantasy Treasure Bra" has a kind of Mata Hari vibe this year. It's handset with nearly 3400 precious gems, including pearls, citrines and aquamarines, and the hanging centerpiece tassel is made of two white diamonds weighing over eight carats each and two yellow diamonds weighing over 14 carats each. It was crafted by the expert hands over at London Jewelers in Long Island, and took over 500 hours to make. And in keeping with this season's under-the-sea trend, the bra is aqua.
So is Miranda Kerr nervous about her wearing all that bling and not much else nine months after giving birth?
"Oh no," she told us, wearing a hot pink Michael Kors number with a slit up to there. "This is something I've always wanted to do."
It would seem that Kerr and all the other Victoria's Secret Angels (ahem, Gisele) have magic rubber band bodies that just snap into place after having kids--after all, Kerr walked the runway at Balenciaga just three months after having her son Flynn with husband Orlando Bloom. But Kerr confessed she is doing extra work to prep for her big blinged-out walk down the runway next month.
"I do yoga. That's something I consistently do as well as pilates," she said. "So I've been doing that for the past six months. But I've been doing more squats because you gotta get that booty up--you really can't hide anything when you're up there on that runway--you've got cameras coming at you from every angle." She also said she's still breast feeding.
And while Selita Ebanks once said that walking in diamond-studded lingerie was a painful, scratchy experience, Kerr said the bra is quite comfortable. Heavy, she admitted, but nowhere near as heavy as the wings.
Since Halloween is coming up and the idea of the whole Mirlando clan dressed up together was too cute too handle, we had to ask--would Mama Kerr and Flynn ever wear matching Halloween costumes?
"I hadn't thought about that but I was thinking of what I would put him in and I was thinking a bumble bee or he even could be a pirate." Good choices. We vote pirate--a little inspiration from dad sounds nice.
