These days, it's pretty hard to separate Kate Moss, the model, from Kate Moss, the icon. It's harder still to imagine that Moss was once a relatively-unknown face, who still had to audition to get gigs. And yet, as these videos proves, that was indeed the case in 1996.
Unearthed by The Huffington Post, the audition tapes, which the news source reports as being for L'Oréal, show a young, somewhat vulnerable--though no less gorgeous--Kate Moss as she bats her eyelashes, swishes her hair and gives the camera some major blue steel. And we get to hear her very young, girly-sounding voice!
Of course, after watching the videos, it's easy to see why Moss shot to fame, and why she continues to fascinate us: The girl's got some serious skills. Naturally, L'Oréal agreed--the cosmetic company booked her to star in their 1996 commercial for a new kind of shampoo, which you can watch below. Though we have to say, we almost prefer her audition tapes to the real thing!
