So this video, shot by photographer Marcus Gaab for the latest issue of I Love You Magazine, and posted on Nowness, is unsurprisingly full of Tyra's smizes and emotive stares. She screams, scrunches her face in confusion, shouts "I hate you," then gesticulates "I love you," does a weird robotic dance and stares at the camera all wide-eyed and crazed. So, you know, just your average day with Ty Ty.
“I just told her to perform, do her thing and to stop when she felt like,” Gaab told Nowness. “But she didn’t stop, she kept on voguing. There was no rehearsal; she invented the whole thing while we were there.” Somehow we're not surprised.
But while the video showcases the kooky Tyra we've all come to know from her tenure on ANTM, it's more likely an exercise in acting for the TV mogul who previously said she created her over-the-top character on the long-running show purely for entertainment purposes. Nowness says "beneath the caricature Banks is a shrewd business woman," and quotes Banks as saying, “When I was a little girl and went to Disneyland, I didn’t know that all this was from Walt Disney. That’s what I want to be. Me being behind the scenes, the business woman, creating new stars, products, projects.”
Whether this bolsters claims that ANTM is a total sham or not...well, that's beside the point because we all know the real question here is: Would Tyra's smizing skills move her onto the next round if she was competing?
