It's a whole new year! And a very important year, at that, for one of our favorite designers and fashion personalities,
Though he had previously said he'd never do a mass-market collaboration, Elbaz released his hugely successful Lanvin Hearts H&M capsule collection in November 2010. Even with all the recent designer/main stream collabs that have popped up recently, it's still seen as as one of the most critically lauded collections ever. The structured cocktail dresses and cheeky print tees were an ideal translation of runway to real-way.
First Kid's Collection
Lanvin released its first ridiculously adorable children's collection this past June. The collection included pretty princess tulle dresses and mini ballet flats (sadly a little too petite to fit our frames!), as well as Elbazzy rag dolls that benefitted humanitarian charity Designing Hope.
Dancing to Pitbull in Lanvin's Fall 2011 Campaign
One minute of pure fashion awesomeness: Elbaz put on his dancey pants and steals the show in the last few seconds of Lanvin's Steven Meisel-shot Fall 2011 campaign vid, which also featured Karen Elson and Raquel Zimmerman robotically dancing to Pitbull. The clothes are gorgeous, too.
Making Bow-Tie and Glasses a Total Thing Nobody but Alber could pull this look off! Isn't he adorable?
His Quotable Moments
These are just a handful of our favorite quotes from Alber--trust us there are lots more.
2012: First Book Release and Beyond...
2012 marks Elbaz's tenth year as creative director at Lanvin, and the upcoming release of his first book - which he describes as being made in his own image: "Small and fat!" The 700-page book, which includes mostly photos with some text mixed in, will document everything that goes into creating a Lanvin collection. Fingers crossed, it also has some helpful tips on how best to achieve success in life, Alber Elbaz-style. And of course, we can't wait to see his latest Lanvin F/W collection this March. Happy 10th anniversary, Alber!
