Erickson Beamon Fall 2012: The Chicest Speakeasy Around
It may be a little early in the season for this, but we’re going to go ahead and declare Erickson Beamon AW/12 the best presentation milieu of fashion month—yes, month. Hands down.
Allow us set the scene. For their first ready-to-wear collection, Karen Erickson and Vicki Beamon transported us back in time to the Prohibition Era by way of a swanky German speakeasy burlesque bar complete with cabaret café-style seating, flapper dancers, and live concerto music courtesy of The Citizens Band.
Equally racy yet reserved Anita Berber-inspired models sipped white wine and mingled amongst themselves whilst sensually swaying along with the upbeat jazz tunes, wearing sumptuous floor-length slip dresses and silky cocktail frocks in a lush, dark palette of onyx and bordeaux. And it wouldn’t be an Erickson Beamon soiree without utterly amazing jewelry—Swarovski Elements crystal-encrusted necklaces and brooches with falling chains were perched on the bust of each model’s bodice, while a select few were topped off with heavily embellished headbands.
The real star of this evening of grandeur? The lovely Zoe Kravitz. The pint-sized actress/rocker took center stage and sashayed back and forth across the platform in a feathered top, high-waisted hot pants, and sexy nude suspender tights—certainly the most fabulous flapper of them all.
