Perhaps one of his most secretive secret showings yet, Tom Ford's fall presentation wasn't even on the schedule for London Fashion Week. He showed the collection through private appointments and there wasn't so much as a twitpic of the model board. But our first peek at this collection happened in one of the most public ways possible: Gwyneth Paltrow wore it to the Oscars. And looked amazing.
When a few reviews of Tom Ford's fall 2012 collection came in, it was reported that the collection was made up mostly of black and red, with one cream red carpet dress mixed in. In fact, Tom Ford told the Telegraph of the current state of red carpet dressing: “No one wants to take any risks. It’s all about a strapless dress, a fishtail hem, some borrowed and pretty hair. And who can blame them with the fashion police on the prowl?” And to Vogue UK: “…Nobody would be brave enough” to wear one of his gowns. Well, apparently Gwyneth Paltrow was up to the challenge. And who better?
One of the later arrivals to the red carpet, Paltrow tweeted a pic of herself in the dress while she was en route, saying, "Almost there! In Tom Ford and Anna Hu!"
She basically killed it in the all-white ensemble, cape and all--something we're pretty sure only she could pull off at the Oscars. She told Louise Roe it was the only dress she tried on and we're glad she stuck with it.
What do you think of the look?
