Just when you think that skin-tight, respiratory constricting and strategically cut-out bandage dresses by Hervé Léger by Max Azria can’t possibly get any more suggestive, fall 2012 comes along.
Two words for you: bondage and harnesses. Every single look that came down the runway was accessorized with some sort of strappy, buckled leather harness, be it waist-whittling corset belts, strapped-in vests, full-on bondage gear and in one instance a skirt-type contraption, which kind of hinted at a chastity belt but, then again, not really.
The pieces did accent and dramatize some ensembles like, giving curves to a shaggy multi-toned fur vest and adding another texture to a slinky silk jersey maxi-dress. But we could have left the S&M accessory in the closet for a champagne tassled and gold-embellished strapless mini-dress and peachy long-sleeved, alternating gold striped plunging neckline frock, which the harnesses kind of distracted from was. Either way, it’s what you expect from the label - pure sexy, sexiness, just packaged in a different way each season. Speaking of, I had high hopes for some sort of celebrity-related entertainment after last season when Thomas Jane’s ill-timed bathroom-break totally caused a ruckus during the show. (Real quick: he ran backstage to pee right before the show started and then calmly returned to his seat via the runway as the models were walking it. It was awesome.) But no snafus this time around, just a front row lined with Beverly Johnson, Holly Marie Combs, Kate Mara (Rooney’s sister), Tinsley Mortimer and Harley Viera Newton, who all presumably took care of business before the show.
