If you weren't able to get your hands on the now sold-out Orla Kiely coatdress Kate Middleton wore on a recent visit to an Oxford elementary school, don't worry! You can still have a little bit of that signature Orla look, at a price that won't put a dent in your wallet. The Irish designer, famous for her prints, has teamed up with Uniqlo for a cute capsule collection of perfect springtime staples.
Tavi Gevinson recently starred in Wren's fall 2012 short film, "Beware of Young Girls." In it, she displayed several of her many talents, including singing, and inspired her directors (and I) to gush about about how great and smart and inspiring she and her website, Rookie, are. Indeed, Gevinson is someone to "beware of" in the sense that she's got a bright future ahead of her. So, when Wren offered us the chance to shoot her a few questions, we asked her about just that. Click through for Tavi's thoughts on shooting the Wren film, her toned down personal style, pursuing singing/modeling/acting and college, which she does plan to attend.
At this point, we know a fair amount about Tavi Gevinson and her evolution from a 13-year-old blogging about her fashion obsession to a 16-year-old (as of Saturday, according to her Wikipedia. Also, what? All this happened in less than three years?) running a successful and awesome editorial site for teens, doing public speaking engagements, singing and starring in films and ad campaigns.
What she hasn't spoken much about is how she monetizes it all or how much help she gets from, you know, adults.
How can you possibly make an ad campaign starring Chloë Sevigny even cooler? By bringing on Purple Diary editor Olivier Zahm and Ryan McGinley, for starters. Yep, it's the ultimate cool kid trifecta--and Uniqlo made good use of it for its fall 2013 campaign.
