At this point, no one needs to spell out for you that prints were a huge trend last spring, mostly of the colorful, floral variety. But where spring was bright and sunny, fall has taken a turn towards the more staid and sombre, or at least as much as a digital print can be considered as such. The first few days of fashion week have shown that designers' fascination with prints is as strong as it ever was. This time around, instead of the kaleidascope we're used to, we can thank Costello Tagliapietra, Peter Som and Richard Chai for the warmer colors of fall (brown, red, orange) stick together to make low key (though certainly not boring) monochromatic prints. Maybe these colors are enough to warm us amidst the snow that just fell on fashion week? We'll certainly let them try.
