Last night the White House threw a state dinner to honor its Brit guests, UK prime minister David Cameron and his wife, Samantha. Also in attendance? A rather starry mix of of Obama's well-known Hollywood and fashion supporters.
Anna Wintour, who's been very visible in her support of the President and his re-election efforts, was there looking gorgeous in a black and white Chanel gown. So was Georgina Chapman, wearing Marchesa obviously, as did Michelle Obama. Grazia asked Chapman's hubby Harvey Weinstein what he thought about the First Lady's gown choice, and he replied, "I'm stoked."
The FLOTUS and Sam Cam looked perfectly complementary in blue, Obama in the aforementioned Marchesa and Cameron wearing UK designer Alessandra Rich, and--taking a cue from the high-low princess?--pairing the gown with shoes from high street store Next (according to Grazia).
Also in attendance? George Clooney sans Stacy Keibler; Downton Abbey's Lady Grantham Elizabeth McGovern, as well as the Earl, Hugh Bonneville. Guests were treated to performances by John Legend and UK folk-rock band Mumford & Sons. Sounds like it was quite a party.
