23-year-old Leandra Medine, aka The Man Repeller, is on the cover of Avenue's March issue. The cover reads, "The Man Repeller Says 'I Do.'" She's getting married to a longtime on-again-off-again boyfriend who works in finance. Her engagement announcement last year was met with mixed responses. While many of her followers were congratulatory, some criticized the blogger for misleading or betraying her readers--calling herself a 'man repeller' when she in fact had a man, whose name she still doesn't reveal publicly, the whole time--revealing that she wasn't repellant to men after all.
Her defense? "I didn't mean for the 'man repeller' to be me (initially)," she tells Carson Griffith. Rather, her intent was to make a "social comment about fashion." Regardless, Medine seems to be taking it all in stride and seems to have lined up a pretty incredible wedding gown situation. Although she wore Marchesa to her engagement party (which she skipped Alexander Wang's show for), natch, she is referring to her friend Prabal Gurung when she says, "We're actually talking about the prospect of him doing my wedding dress." Apparently, her many Twitter followers have "waited with baited breath" to find out who would be doing the honors, so, there you go Leandra's Twitter followers. It's Prabal-ly Prabal.
Are you jealous of her yet? You can read the full interview, in which she talks about writing a book (yep, that's happening) and her other designer friends, like Rebecca Minkoff, who compares her to Katherine Hepburn, here.
