The director has partnered with Colac Pictures producers Julie Anne Quay (the former executive editor of V magazine) and Gail Lyon (whose producing credits include Erin Brockovich and Gattaca) to bring the 1986 novel Fabulous Nobodies to life on the big screen, reports WWD. Fabulous Nobodies is about a fashion-obsessed door girl, awesomely named Reality Nirvana Tuttle, who works at a downtown nightclub in Eighties Manhattan. According to the novel's Wikipedia entry, Reality (or "Really" to her friends) spends her time "being fabulous with the help of her frocks" and "deciding who is fabulous enough to get into the Less Is More nightclub." The book was penned by former Vogue Australia editor in chief Lee Tulloch, so we can count on great clothing descriptions and on-point 80s fashion references.
“It’s ‘Emma’ meets ‘Clueless,'" explained Quay. Now that's a concept we can get behind--add in the amazing fashion credentials of everyone involved from Cutler to Tulloch, and we're sold.
