We never knew so many fashion people watched The Today Show until Twitter started blowing up this morning with tweets like "Worshipping @DVF on Today Show with her Gap Kids cuteness" (Mickey Boardman). Yep, Diane Von Furstenberg was on this morning to chat about her collaboration with GapKids and even brought a bunch of super cute little girls to model the adorable collection. There was even an 8-year-old DJ playing music that came out at least a couple of decades before he was born. This, of course, made all the girls want to dance and pose in their mini printed wrap dresses. It was too cute. If you're kicking yourself for missing this, don't worry, there's a video!
Although, it turns out DVF and Gap may not have even needed the hype that these ladies brought to the collection. Apparently, it's already selling out. The collection went on sale yesterday and Today reports "The collection arrived in stores and on the website on Thursday, and several hours later there were already reports that some locations had sold out." According to Racked, on whom we've come to depend for inventory updates for these sorts of things, stock was dwindling at the 5th Avenue location yesterday morning and as far as we know, there's no limit to how much you can scoop up. And there's a big banner on Gap's website that says "It's almost sold out!" but that could just be good marketing. Still, we checked and many of the pieces are only available in a couple of sizes and it looks like the t-shirt dresses are gone.
We wouldn't be that upset except that we may have been hoping to scoop up a few pieces for ourselves and we're pretty sure we're not the only ones. Most pieces go up to a size XXL or 18, which, guess what? When you're 18, you're full-grown. That's an adult size. DVF in our size for under $60? Yes please. See below for the ridiculously adorable video and head over to Gap.com to shop the collection...for your...kids.
