The weekend is coming to a close and with it, I'm more than halfway through Paris fashion week. I'm having trouble even remembering what I did two hours ago, let alone yesterday, as my head is spinning with all the fashion spectacles I've taken in. ANTM must be seeping into high fashion consciousness as I saw models on conveyor belts at Viktor & Rolf and models on escalators at Kenzo. There were lasers at Vivienne Westwood. And pants-less models at Galliano (as well as Andrej Pejic in the front row). Is our need for constant stimulation, to have everything bigger, brighter, shinier, and all of it on our iphone/pads, so great that we can't just look at clothes on the runway and appreciate them? Perhaps. But I saw plenty of great clothes, just clothes (and great accessories--see: Eddie Borgo) too, gimmick or no gimmick.
Take a look.
