Minimalists on a budget, take note: Macy's latest designer collaboration is going to be right up your (very straight and non-cluttered) alley. Macy's has teamed up with Calvin Klein Collection designer Francisco Costa, who will do a capsule collection for the retailer's "A Magical Journey to Brasil" promotion, WWD is reporting.
While Macy's already carries the lower-priced ckCalvin Klein, Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein lines, this line will be more like Costa's pricier ready-to-wear collection. "We obviously have a huge distribution of Calvin Klein products but we do not carry the [designer] collection that Francisco creates," Martine Reardon, Macy’s Inc.’s executive vice president of marketing told WWD. "Unfortunately those price points are not within Macy's price points." Not anymore, at least temporarily.
Costa, who is Brazilian, will be creating a line of dresses called Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, which will have a price tag of $130 to $180. "This fresh, youthful line of dresses reflects both my roots and the modern, yet timeless spirit of Calvin Klein," Costa told the trade. And don't expect a lot of busy prints and color--Reardon told WWD that Costa's inspiration came from "some of the architecture in Brazil and the sunset on the horizon there' rather than the bright, happy colors and bold graphic prints that will be very evident in the promotion and that Brazilian designers are known for."
The dresses will be available for a limited run of two months starting May 15. Are you excited for this latest designer collab?
