St. Louis, Missouri is known for a few things: that big arch, delicious barbecue, Nelly, and hosting the evil St.Louis Cardinals [Ed.Note: Go Cubs!] What it is not known for is international fashion editors, models and socialites prancing around in Prada. Yet St. Louis encountered all those things this past weekend, thanks to Lou native Derek Blasberg, who convinced his fashionable friends including Giovanna Battaglia, Elisabeth von Thurns und Taxis, Hamish Bowles, the Brant brothers, fellow Missourian Karlie Kloss, and Taylor Tomasi Hill to fête his birthday at the Blasberg Family Farm in Hillsboro, Missouri. We bet the Midwest is still reeling.
The attendees were thoughtful (or tipsy) enough to share photos and updates on Twitter, and the whole weekend sounded like a blast, if a tiny bit surreal. Fashionista favorite Elisabeth TNT kicked off the festivities with a tweet outlining the attire for the weekend:
@"ElisabethTNT: Rocking Midwest/Ho-down/Texan Soccer Moms look for our weekend in Missouri Bday boy @DerekBlasberg here we come"
Texas soccer moms? Anyway.
From St. Louis, Blasberg chauffered his guests out to the family farm via school bus. Of this proletarian mode of transport, Blasberg tweeted:
"@DerekBlasberg: I'm on a Missouri school bus with a plethora of New Yorkers and Europeans and they're smoking and my whole childhood has been vindicated."
Party-goers ate pizza and barbecue and sat on hay-bales. And then apparently Olivier Theyskens also made an appearance, since he was available to customize a skirt for Taylor Tomasi-Hill:
"@TTomasiHill: It was hard to dance in my floor length theyskens @__theory skirt so Olivier spots me from across the floor&cuts it into a mini himself!!"
Bonus reveals from the weekend include a photo of a young Derek (in a gilt frame) and Harry Brant's snap of the "Derek Shrine." As most good parties in the Midwest do, it ended with a trip to Steak and Shake. Except not usually with a supermodel.
