It's Memorial Day and that means you can start trying to wrap your head around the fact that summer is almost here. While you're doing that, your next logical thought should be: "What nail polish should I be wearing now?"
We already told you about some spring nail polish collections (here and here) but sort of like iPhones, new versions are always being introduced. The colors of the summer run the gamut from gentle pastels to bright neons and everything in between.
Click through to see our favorite nail colors for the summer. (We cheated a bit and included a few sets as well, so there are more than 10 colors here.) Now go find your next signature shade!
Essie Bikini So Teeny: This perfect cornflower blue has been on our digits since we delightedly ripped open the package containing a sample bottle a few weeks ago. Available now. (Essie, $8).
Deborah Lippmann Snow White & the Huntsman Set: This is sold as a set of two lacquers--Kiss and Dark Side of the Moon--in the classic good vs. evil pairing. We prefer the evil shade. Is that bad?(HSN, $25 for the set)
Chanel Holiday: Because it is orange and it is Chanel and it is wonderful (Chanel, $26)
Butter London Lillibet's Jubilee: It's the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's reign. The least we can do for that kind of dedication is give her a nail polish. From the UK-based brand that gave us "No More Waity, Katie" after Kate Middleton and Prince William got engaged, comes another whimsical royal shade. (ButterLondon, $14)
MAC Hey Sailor Touch of Red: Everyone needs a good red lacquer in their arsenal. If only the blue stripes came out of the bottle, too. (MAC, $17)
Zoya Blogger Collection: Three beauty bloggers--The Small Things, Eleventh Gorgeous, Capitol Hill Style--were tapped to create a color with Zoya and Birchbox. Behold the fruits of their effort:Belle, Kate, and Coraline. The formulas are sheer and perfect for mixing your own bespoke shade. (Birchbox, $22 for the set.)
Dior Cosmo: From Dior's upcoming "Summer Mix" collection which will be available in June, this color evokes the spirit of its namesake cocktail. Just don't lick your nails. (Dior, $23)
L'Oreal Colour Riche Now You Sea Me: Because summer is not complete without a Tiffany-blue, sea-inspired shade. (Ulta, $5.99)
