Vogue is getting into the spirit of the Olympics for its June cover. The Fashion Spot posted this picture which promptly racked up several pages of comments on the forum. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, it features soccer player Hope Solo, swimmer (yum) Ryan Lochte sans shirt, and Serena Williams. One of the Fashion Spot commenters has some dish about the features inside the mag, which supposedly includes a Mario Testino-shot Jennifer Lopez piece and a spread with Karlie Kloss and male athletes (sounds promising) also shot by Leibovitz. Joan Smalls and Arizona Muse reportedly also feature in their own editorials.
There are a few notables about this cover: It features a guy (which seems to be only the fourth time that's happened on the cover of Vogue--the last ones being Richard Gere, George Clooney and LeBron James--and it doesn't feature models or actresses. The cover garnered quite a few, "This isn't Men's Health, it's Vogue" type observations on the Fashion Spot. We actually find it sort of refreshing, if a tad wholesome. With those bodies they could have sexed it up and made it a bit more high fashion.
What do you think of this athletic Vogue cover?
