The theme of Michael Kors' latest resort collection was "opulent minimalism" and we couldn't have put it better ourselves. We're told he was inspired by a recent trip to Turkey, but maybe his recent multi-billion dollar valuation also inspired the opulence.
Perhaps tasked with finding a way to make resort--which tends to be more casual and wearable than main collections--feel luxurious and special, Kors did rich fabrics with ornate details in jewel tones and golds in simple, resort season-appropriate silhouettes.
Plus, resort, in reality, is a tricky season since not everyone spends the winter months in resorts. So, while there were some (very cute) swimwear and sandal options for the beach-bound, Kors also provided some great transitional pieces like coats, pants and knits--as well as pieces that would work anywhere.
Cool, work-appropriate shorts, tailored jackets and sleek shifts had a fun '60s vibe with a modern twist. There were also, of course, a few floor-length evening options, most of which you will surely see on the backs of celebrities (if you haven't already). All topped off with luxurious accessories like turquoise python belts, jeweled clutches, and chic chain-strapped handbags.
