STORY is an innovative new concept store. STORY unveils a different theme every 4-8 weeks; with each theme change, the entire design of the store and merchandise changes. We are host to many events from sponsor parties, book readings to movie screenings. Every changing, STORY has the point of view of a magazine, changes like a gallery and sells things like as store.
POSITION OVERVIEW: STORY is seeking an assistant buyer in an integrated role involved in every step of the product sourcing to final sales process. Ranging from sourcing, SKU planning, merchandising, planning and sales analysis.
Candidates must be very strong in fashion, business and analytics while having a passion for creating a unique in-store experience through design, merchandising and a customized product assortment. A creative entrepreneurial spirit with strategic on-your-toes thinking is a must.

Vendor Relationships and Maintenance • Initial Vendor Outreach Emails and Calls • Purchase Order Placement , Order Follow-up and Tracking • Sales Analysis & Reporting Updates • Vendor Reorders • Executing a RTV process for returning products to vendors • Scheduling of Product Knowledge Sessions as Needed in conjunction with Store Manager • Scheduling of in-store Trunk Shows in conjunction with store manager • Attending Trade Shows/market appointments • Overseeing billing and vendor payments • Sending Prompt Generic Response Emails to Hopeful Vendors
Merchandising • Making sure there is a cohesive assortment for each theme and seeing if there are any product deficiencies, missed opportunities • Product Research- Proposing new Brands or Products that suit themes • Maintaining Fixture Inventory Catalog of what is in store or storage space
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Generate weekly sales recaps • Manage reorders on a weekly basis • Partner with store managers on product and merchandising • Evaluate offerings and sales trend analysis • Responsible for creating, editing and closing purchase orders • Develop and maintain strong communication and relationships with vendors
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: • 1-3 years of experience in buying or merchandising • BA/BS preferred • Retail or Speciality Store background preferred • Strong analytical and retail math skills, planning experience a plus • Critical thinker; drives solutions • Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow through on all aspects of responsibility • Ability to multitask and focus in a busy atmosphere • Flexible team player • Excellent time management and communication skills • Familiarity with multiple resourcing venues ie: trade shows, private vendors etc. • Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail • High Level of Proficiency in Word and Excel
