In news that may not be quite as earth-shattering (or head-scratching) as Margiela x H&M (but is still exciting), Topshop just announced their latest designer collaborator and it's one of our favorite Brit designers, JW Anderson. "I am very excited to collaborate with Topshop. It gives me the opportunity to reach a much wider audience with my designs. It has always been very important to me that my collections are made accessible to anyone interested in fashion and design," the designer said in a statement.
Twenty-seven year old Anderson, who recently won the coveted British Fashion Award for emerging talent, follows fellow rising star Mary Katrantzou, whose latest capsule collection for the high street retailer sold out in a flash. There are no images available yet, so we're not sure whether shoppers will be as eager to grab Anderson's designs as they were to get one of Katrantzou's signature bright printed dresses, but we're definitely intrigued (and figure, based on how much we like JW Anderson's RTW, that this will fly off the racks, too).
Per the release, the collection will be comprised of "a best of all his design ideas to date, a sort of must have wardrobe of covetable pieces." The collection is set to hit stores in September. Based on that information, we expect modern minimalist staples like sweaters, skirts, dresses and pants with interesting details and perhaps some graphic prints.
Additionally, there will be "cool collectable items" that Anderson picked out himself including "pencils, memory sticks, rubik’s cubes, vintage magazines and photography books." A first for Topshop as far as we know. Though it's not Anderson's first collaboration with a mass retailer. He did one with Aldo earlier this year.
He must really like collabs because he's doing not one, but two for Topshop. The second will launch in early 2013! Excited?
