Despite Marc Jacobs's warning that perhaps fashion and politics don't mix well, Anna Wintour is reportedly co-hosting another high profile Obama fundraiser. Anna raised a cool $2 million for the campaign a few weeks ago when she hosted a fundraiser with Sarah Jessica Parker. And despite the floggings she's received in the media, she's hitting the well-heeled town of Greenwich, CT to co-host another fundraiser there with Harvey Weinstein, Page Six is reporting.
Wintour and Weinstein teamed up last year for a fundraiser at Weinstein's Greenwich Village digs. While there's no information about who else is involved or where specifically in Greenwich the fundraiser will take place, Page Six is reporting that it'll happen on August 6, and tickets are $35,800 a head. While Anna and friends will undoubtedly raise a boatload for Obama, is it helping or hurting? A commenter on Politico said of the fundraiser:
Vogue readers are the upper 1%ers who spend thousands of dollars on one handbag and we are to believe that they relate to the rest of us. As far as the Hollywood crowd, they live in fantasy land just like Obama if he thinks Americans will return him to office.
You have to admire Anna's dedication to Obama's cause in light of all the criticism. We'll have to wait until November to see how it all plays out. Do you think that fashion and Hollywood are going to hurt or help the Obama campaign?
