Maybe it's just something about starting off your Monday morning after a particularly sleepless night of highway noises emanating from the BQE above your Brooklyn apartment--or maybe it's just being reminded about, you know, the importance of human rights over, say, Karl Lagerfeld's kitten--but this new video of Beyonce performing her latest single "I Was Here" at the United Nations General Assembly for World Humanitarian Day really brought on the waterworks. Those little parachute care packages exploded from that plane, and the icy encasement surrounding our frozen heart just melted away. Tiny wooly mammoths rejoiced. No but really--we teared up.
And possibly questioned our career paths a little bit.
The clip shows Bey performing the inspiring ballad to an awestruck crowd at the UN in front of a giant IMAX-esque backdrop of humanitarian efforts, balanced out with some galactic imagery for good measure. There's a man holding a presumably disadvantaged baby, crying (the man, not the baby), post-natural disaster charity relief, lots of happier faces for said efforts, and yes, those parachutes. It's all part of an effort to promote World Humanitarian Day, which was yesterday. And now we're seriously regretting spending our yesterday sitting in a park and ordering Dominos. Crying harder.
But let's try to regain composure for just a moment--can we talk about how unbelievably incredibly amazing Beyonce looks? That sparkly white Marc Bouwer gown that's practically painted on in the most tasteful way imaginable. That skin. That smize. That ass. It's unreal. This video is all the more proof that Beyonce is bey-utiful both inside and out. And we really want to bey her when we grow up. Someone pass the Kleenex?
...See what we mean?
