Ann Romney isn't the only politican's wife worth watching at the 2012 RNC--VP candidate Paul Ryan's wife Janna is turning out to be quite the fashion plate herself.
But while Ann seems to prefer high-end labels like Oscar de la Renta and Reed Krakoff, Janna has so far been known to rock much more affordable buys. On Wednesday, she accompanied her husband Paul at the RNC wearing a $169 emerald green sheath dress from Talbots, WWD is reporting.
Regardless of your political leanings, you have to admit Janna looked pretty great. But, we couldn't help wondering: Is she cribbing from Michelle Obama's style playbook?
As far as first ladies go, Michelle remains one of the most beloved--her approval rating is consistently higher than that of her husband. And MObama's personal style--famous for its mash-up of luxury labels, emerging designers and high street labels like Talbots and J. Crew--has been a big part of her approachable and relatable public image.
So is Janna trying to craft a similar image by wearing labels that Michelle favors? That remains to be seen. One thing is for sure though: Both Janna and Ann have realized the important role fashion can play in the campaign trail--and they've definitely taken care to present a stylish, if conservative, image to the public.
Yesterday at the RNC, Janna stepped out in another pretty sheath--though this time it was a more subdued black-and-white palette. Ann, however, has been sticking bold, vibrant colors (is she trying to convey something about herself?). Following her fire-engine-red Oscar de la Renta on Wednesday, she wore a robins-egg blue sheath and jacket combination.
