Jil Sander's Not on the Milan Fashion Week Calendar
Jil Sander's always done her own thing. At her debut menswear show following her (second) return to her namesake label, Sander said, "You have to break rules." And that's pretty much what she's doing with her forthcoming womenswear show, which will be her first since returning to the label.
As WWD points out, Sander is nowhere to be found on the official Milan Fashion Week calendar. Instead, La Repubblica reports, she'll stage two shows "independently."
So why did she decide to opt out?
This upcoming Milan Fashion Week seems like it's been a point of contention for a while now with the months-long scheduling conflict, in which Milan was particularly stubborn, to Miuccia Prada fearing the demise of Milanese fashion.

And now, the schedule is jam-packed during the first three days, even though the week officially runs through the 25th, as designers fear editors will leave early for Paris, which is a valid fear. Perhaps the jam-packed schedule had something to do with her decision or there were some other restrictions she didn't want to contend with or rules she just wanted to break.
She's also probably well aware that she's one of the Milan shows that no one's going to want to miss.
