We regret to inform you that Miley Cyrus's signature bun--the inspiration behind the hilarious @Mileys_Bun Twitter account--has met a tragic and untimely death. This weekend, Cyrus visited her favorite hairdresser Chris McMillan, where the bun was unceremoniously chopped off and Miley's hair fashioned into a (quite cute) pixie cut.
“I’m too young to die @MileyCyrus !!!!!” @Mileys_Bun tweeted before getting the chop. But fear not, bun-lovers: @Mileys_Bun is by no means gone forever. "I can tweet from the afterlife y'all. Don't worry," @Mileys_Bun tweeted, adding that it is now going to embark on an exciting new life as "a gypsy roaming from place to place."
"My solo career is really taking off."
While we're sad to see the bun go, Miley seems really thrilled with her new haircut and we think she looks totes adorbs. Also, it's her hair and we don't really care that much what she does with it.
However, it seems some Twitter followers were a little too attached to the bun. Cyrus even had to defend her decision, tweeting "if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all. my hair is attached to my head no one else's and it's going bye bye :)"
In spite of the break up, Miley's Bun remained supportive of her former 'mom,' tweeting: "In all reality I'm a big fan of Miley's and I support whatever choices she makes. Calm down guys!" Miley's dogs, @FloydLilaZiggy, also tweeted in support of their mom, saying, "She looks so gorgeous."
And on that note, we think the world has officially gone too meta. Imagine trying to explain this whole situation to your grandmother. Go on. It'd be hilarious.
But however ridiculous this whole thing has gotten, it has at least spawned a hilarious new meme, based off the once-inescapable Gotye song [Ed. note: I recently learned that it is still impossible to escape in LA], "Somebody That I Used to Know."
