Tucked into Robin Givhan's lengthy piece (worth a read in itself) on what role Wintour will take on post-Vogue--be it political or otherwise--is this little tidbit: "Both the truth and the mythology of Wintour...has been illustrated in The September Issue and The Devil Wears Prada. (Another documentary for HBO is in the works.)"
Little detail is known about what the new documentary will entail--a search on IMDB yields nothing. However, since The September Issue saw Wintour in a strictly professional light, chronicling her work on a day-to-day basis, we hope this new doc will offer a peek into her personal and family life, and a look at how she managed to become one of the most important women working in fashion and media today.
But regardless of what angle the new documentary will take, we've no doubt it will be inspiring and entertaining. Maybe we'll even get to see Wintour sans-shades and wearing jeans. Now that would make for some good TV.
Update: A spokesperson from Conde Nast reached out to tell us that while there is an HBO documentary in the works, Anna Wintour won't be the focus. So what will be then? Is another Vogue doc in the works? Or is another Vogue staffer the focus--Grace Coddington perhaps? We've reached out for more information and will update when we hear back.
