There's no question that Anna Wintour is a huge Obama supporter--so far she's co-hosted four dinners and become one of the his top fundraisers--and now the Vogue EIC is even skipping out on her regular 9-to-5 to help the President.
Wintour will be co-hosting a $15,000-a-plate dinner with Tom Ford and David Plouffe at Mark's Club in London on September 19--the same day that Milan Fashion Week kicks off. This means that Wintour will be missing all the shows on the first day, including, most notably, Gucci and Alberta Ferretti.
Wintour will undoubtedly arrive in Milan early the next morning on September 20 in time for Emporio Armani's 12:30 pm show, and Prada's 6:00 pm show. Not that Gucci's Frida Giannini or Alberta Ferretti will find much comfort in that...
But that's not all Wintour may be missing this season, in her efforts to help raise money for Obama's reelection campaign. She'll also be hosting a fundraiser event on October 1, billed as a "Paris Fashion Week Reception with Anna Wintour" at La Maison 8, "the Kenzo House," with a $2,500 ticket to attend a reception and a $10,000 ticket for dinner. The only problem is that Hedi Slimane's debut show for Saint Laurent Paris is set to take place on the same day at 8:30 pm--presumably when the Obama event will be underway. So unless Wintour's found a new way to be in two places at once... [Ed. note: She probably has.]
