Fashion people are really at each other's throats these days!
While Cathy Horyn and Oscar de la Renta and Cathy Horyn's boyfriend have been using WWD to continue their beef, Giorgio Armani used a press conference before his spring 2013 show yesterday to address recent comments Roberto Cavalli made about him on his blog.
Cavalli wrote that the Camera Nazionale della Moda expresses favoritism towards "personalities" like Armani, whose "every choice is perceived as an order," exemplified by the fact that they allowed Armani to switch his show date from Monday to Sunday, leaving Cavalli the only big name on the last day of Milan Fashion Week:
As usual, the Camera Nazionale della Moda is washing its hands of the situation and it will not go against the wishes of Little King Armani, and therefore the problems are mine alone.
WWD reports that at his press conference, Armani responded, amused:
Cavalli should be quiet because the ‘Little King’ could start to get angry.
Uh-oh. How ominous. Sounds like Armani is willing to play dirty. It also sounds a little bit like a text from Pretty Little Liars.
It's also worth noting that Armani may have thrown the first punch. He recently had some not so flattering things to say in Elle UK of his fellow Italian designers:
These designers have no reserve. They’ve chosen a path and thrown themselves onto it head first, regardless of everything. Whether or not their designs are sellable or vulgar. As long as it’s new and people talk about it. That is the truth.
Who's going to jump into the fray next? And why is everyone so angry lately?
