There was no question about it: The first stop on our Fashion's Night Out tour last night had to be Balenciaga, where Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington was on hand to meet her legion of fans and sign the limited edition scarves and totes that featured drawings she did of her cat, Pumpkin, wearing Balenciaga looks from various seasons.
If you haven't heard, she likes cats. So do we. So obviously we had a lot to talk about, like how did she decide which Balenciaga looks to use? "I picked ones that would work on someone who is round. He's a pumpkin!"
Considering the people we see in Balenciaga are generally not very round at all, that must have been a challenge. We also asked what she thought about the recent and undeniable trend that is cats in fashion, with Karl Lagerfeld's kitten Choupette at the forefront: "I love cats, so the more I see of them and the more they enter everyone else's world, I'm happy," she said. "I have my book coming out soon in November, my memoirs, and I've devoted a whole chapter to cats, including Karl and Choupette."
Um...what??? Okay, we were already super excited for this book, but now we're just overwhelmed. Can we pre-order this book yet?!
