The Attendees: From celebs to designers to royalty, everyone was at the Dior show in Paris this morning. One tweet we saw put the number at "13 runways with 1,300 guests" (@yvescamingue).
Kanye West, Robert DeNiro, Diane Von Furstenberg, Christopher Kane, Olivia Palermo, Mila Kunis, the Princess of Thailand, Leelee Sobieski, Eva Herzigova, Natalia Vodianova, Leigh Lezark, Virginie Ledoyen
The Vibe: While waiting, peaceful classical music played. If you want to do a re-enactment of the show right down to the music, @MrEkoas helpfully tweeted the soundtrack: "Paperclip People - 4 My Peeps, Shari Vari - A Number of Names, X-Press 2 - Kill 100 (Carl Craig Remix)."
There was massive anticipation in the room obviously. Sunday Times Style (@STStyle) probably summed it up best: "I'm very much the giddy goat." A lot of people tweeted the show notes (see above).
The Clothes: Christina Binkley
The Hair and Makeup:
Hair was pulled back in a slick pony but finally we get some interesting eye makeup. Glitter and metallic eye makeup in different colors on every girl was striking.
WTF Moments: If you watched the livestream, you probably saw many of the models struggling with those stillettos. We saw tripping, hobbling, and very careful steps. No wipeouts, which is a #win.
Also apparently Bill Cunningham was sitting second row, not front.
Critical Reactions: Raf took a little jog through all the salon rooms, saluting and waving. How relieved must he be?
Here are the first reactions:
@CathyHorynNYT: Gorgeous Dior. Great shape. Sexy. Surprising color.
@Glamour_Fashion: Raf Simon's @Dior RTW debut: so clean, fresh & effortlessly modern you could eat a macaroon off of it.
@BofF: When did modernism become so sexy? @Dior by Raf Simons
