Kate Middleton is taking legal action in response to topless photos recently published by French publication Closer, and she's calling in the big guns. WWD is reporting that the Royal family has hired Aurélien Hamelle of the Metzner Associés firm, who recently defended John Galliano in the case that cost him his job at Dior.
A representative for the Royal family confirmed that they filed a criminal suit in Nanterre on Monday morning, and that a civil case and injunction will soon follow in Paris. Apparently, Italian publication Chi has not received the memo, as they recently published a whopping 26-page spread of the photos despite the pending French lawsuits.
If the scandal is affecting Kate, she's certainly doing a great job of appearing as cool and composed as ever in public. She continued her tour of the South Pacific, wearing outfits more colorful than we're used to seeing on Kate but still gorgeous. Styleite reports that she took in a traditional topless dance (yep, we see the irony), amongst other activities, all while wearing British staple brands like Jonathan Saunders, Jaeger, and Mulberry. She also rocked a locally-made strapless dress. Always classy, that Kate.
