Now Lady Gaga is taking sides in Oscar de la Renta's beef with Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn.
To recap, de la Renta did not appreciate Horyn's review of his spring 2013 show, in which she referred to him as a "hot dog;" so he, in turn, published an open letter in WWD sort-of calling her a 3-day-old stale hamburger, and so on. [Ed. note: Has "beef" ever more aptly described an altercation? We don't think so.]
Cathy Horyn responded only to say she felt de la Renta had misinterpreted her words and went a little too far with the whole full page ad/open letter thing. Not as far as Lady Gaga did last year though--she dedicated her whole column in the September 2011 issue of V to pontificating about Horyn and what she called “Extreme Critic Fundamentalism."
So, it's not so surprising that she's taken to another platform, Twitter, (which, considering her nearly 30 million followers, is likely larger than V's readership) to support Oscar in his anti-Horyn statement. She wrote, according to WWD,
@OscarPRGirl Bravo Oscar. Only you would be so chic as to purchase an entire page in WWD, making statements like a good fashion citizen.
The tweet seems to have disappeared--the reason why is unclear. Perhaps both parties want to put the conflict to rest. Still, it must be nice knowing Gaga's on your side (right?). Plus, Oscar PR Girl probably has even more Twitter followers now.
