Yesterday, in between the cat-spotting (yep, there was a cat) and PB&J eating at Rachel Antonoff's spring presentation, we caught up with Girls mastermind Lena Dunham, who was sporting a new cropped haircut and chilling with her BF (and Rachel's brother) Jack Antonoff. This being fashion week, we grilled Lena on her new 'do, fashion design dreams and her favorite munchies.
What inspired your haircut? I did it this morning! I finished shooting and I just had this moment where I thought that I could be... You know you always sort of dream you could be that girl who makes that radical choice, and [then you] look at your reflection on the subway and be like, "I kind of look like a boy. Whatever, it's cool." So, I am embarrassed to say because it sounds so trite, but I looked at a picture of Carey Mulligan and then just went for it, but no one is doing it better than her so why not?
If you had to design a clothing line, what would it be like? I mean, in a practical way I would love to own a hoodie that had mittens attached to it. Or a dress with underwear in it.
These are genius! Can you make these? I wish.
[Lena pauses to say hi to everyone. She knows everyone at this show.]
Tell me a secret! I don't know if I have any good ones today. I was shooting until 2am, so I feel like I already spewed them all rolling around on the floor like a mad-woman. I'm done shooting now, so we'll see if I know how to be a human in the world anymore, like how to order in restaurant.
What's the best delivery in New York? My favorite restaurant is a restaurant in Brooklyn Heights called Siggy's and it now has one on Elizabeth St. too. It's like health food, but still with enough buttery nonsense to make it justifiable.
