The Clothes: Season after season, Rachel Roy serves up collections that are extremely wearable, feminine, and generally appealing to a wide range of customers. This season was no exception. It's clear Roy was envisioning a complete wardrobe for the stylish, everyday woman with this collection. She offered everything from smart short and pant suits, to billowy maxis and structured gowns. The collection was rife with quintessential spring motifs: crisp white lace, sherbet and punchy citrus hues, easy separates, and fun prints.
The Hair & Makeup: Hair was pulled back into a ponytail; makeup was natural-looking.
The Soundtrack: Upbeat, poppy songs I've never heard.
The Vibe: The presentation took place at Roy's offices. It was pretty crowded and informal, but not too hectic.
The Front Row: Sanya Richards-Ross, Mary Alice Stephenson, Ty Hunter (he liked my necklace!), Jared Leto, André Leon Talley.
Celebrity We'd Most Like to See Wearing this Collection: Taylor Swift, Tika Sumpter, Jessica Alba.
WTF Moment: More like a great moment! André Leon Talley made an appearance! The famed Vogue contributor swooped in for a quick look at Roy's spring offerings, and was gone in the blink of an eye.
What the Designer Said: "For spring 2013, my collection is all about the unexpected mix of whimsical prints and vibrant hues creating an effortless yet exotic escape for the modern woman. Silhouettes are a juxtaposition between ladylike femme and a tailored edge. The prints for the season are nature-inspired by dreamlike imagination and electric hues create a bright statement."
