Temperley London Spring 2013
The Clothes: Alice Temperley titled her spring 2013 collection a "return to elegance." She stayed with her tried and true feminine aesthetic--a style that has won her fans in both Middleton sisters. She showed classic 1950s Dior-esque silhouettes--nipped waists and full flared midi-length skirts--on printed dresses inspired by Moorish design. Satin skirts were sexed up with sheer paneling--a trend we've been seeing since the start of New York fashion week, and abstract lace and delicate embroidery fancied up the last looks. Bee-keeper hats gave the show some dramatic flare, and we couldn't stop staring at those awesome Charlotte Olympia shoes...
What the line sheets said: "I like to work with a timeless mixture of contrasting influences. I had visions of a late 1950s couture model or a young Sophia Loren, but also modernising the Temperley Woman making her uncomplicated and effortlessly beautiful. I wanted to maintain a balance between refined elegance and modernity."
The Hair & Makeup: Hair was done up with curls piled on top of the head (when it wasn't covered by those hats). Makeup was fresh, glow-y, with a bit of a cat eye.
The Soundtrack: Upbeat, cheery pop.
