While majorly girl crushing on a slew of kick-ass talented and cleverly funny stars at the Glamour “These Girls.” event last night, I spotted my style idol Alexa Chung (well, she and Rachel Bilson are a constant tie in my book) before she was set to hit the decks--er, insert a pre-recorded CD--at the after-party. I had a few burning questions on my mind to ask the DJ/TV host/Gossip Girl guest star/designer/spokesmodel (did I get them all?), who was looking gorge as usual sporting winged eyeliner, a bouffant-styled ponytail coif and a very downtown girly printed navy dress. Fashionista: How are you going to DJ today? Did you really bring a CD? Alexa Chung: I usually DJ with CDs because vinyl is very heavy and I’m literally so bad at computers—like, I call them “computers”—I’m not computer literate. I don’t have Serato or software, so I do it from CDs. So what do you think is the best outfit to wear while DJ'ing? Uh, [laughs] I don’t know. I don’t think DJs really have outfits that are really different from anyone else’s so whatever I’ve got on that day. I’m always quite scruffy. I don’t know—I don’t think I’m renowned for putting on a gown and DJ'ing. That’s not really my style. Tell me more about your book. It’s basically a compendium of drawings, photographs and I’m going to write about a bunch of stuff. It’s not like a “style bible”, which I keep reading it being reported as. It’s more like just imagery I find interesting and it’s going to have a sense of humor and I guess more into the things that Rookie has done. I don’t really know yet. I haven’t written it yet. When will it come out? Well they said September, so I guess September. Next September.

How Tavi Gevinson Makes Money
At this point, we know a fair amount about Tavi Gevinson and her evolution from a 13-year-old blogging about her fashion obsession to a 16-year-old (as of Saturday, according to her Wikipedia. Also, what? All this happened in less than three years?) running a successful and awesome editorial site for teens, doing public speaking engagements, singing and starring in films and ad campaigns. What she hasn't spoken much about is how she monetizes it all or how much help she gets from, you know, adults.
