The Maison Martin Margiela collab for H&M hits stores in just one month, on November 15. Time to start getting excited about it, right?
To whet your whistle for one of H&M's most unusual and anticipated collections to date, we've just received the official look book.
True Margiela fans should be more than pleased. The collection is a re-edition of iconic MMM pieces over the last 23 years since the house's founding. Each item will have a tag to indicate the season from which it originated. According to a press release, H&M sought to reproduce the most "representative" pieces of the Margiela archive--at H&M price points, of course.
The hallmarks of Margiela's influential aesthetic are all there. The release states that the collection (104 pieces total including womens, mens, accessories and footwear) focuses on shape and volume ("masculine shapes adjusted to frame the female body"); oversized garments; an examination of the process of tailoring ("traditional finishings and tailoring procedures are visible"); and ambiguity ("conveyed through the use of trompe l'oeil.
Belgian fashion nerds and women with edgy minimalist leanings should fall head over heels for this one. We're already taken by, well, really almost all of it. But especially the outerwear, the footwear (the invisible wedge pumps in camel-you shall be mine!), and the quirky accessories (the glove coin bag, the hair lock necklace).
You guys ready to stand in line for this one?
