Lena Dunham's become a bit of an unlikely fashion icon this year. From covering New York in girly Louis Vuitton to attending the Met Ball alongside Hamish Bowles, she's been as successful at capturing the attention of fashion people as she has fans of her HBO hit, Girls.
Her latest fashion coup is the cover of ASOS Magazine, which has previously been graced by the likes of Shailene Woodley, Elizabeth Olsen, Jennifer Lawrence, Chloe Moretz, Blake Lively, and every other "It girl" you can think of.
ASOS also shot a behind the scenes video of the cover shoot, in which Dunham offers her refreshing, witty thoughts on style icons and becoming one herself. She lists Chloe Sevigny as someone whose style she admires:
I think she always looks amazing. She's also not one of those people who's just constantly making the best dressed lists and I admire it.
As well as Girls star Jemima Kirke aka Jessa:
If she threw on a burlap sack literally we would all go and purchase burlap sacks.
An ability, she admits, she does not possess:
I could put on the classiest thing in the world and I put it on and I kind of look like someone who's new to being a drag queen. So I am trying to capture a little of what they have.
Compared to, say, fellow Girls star Allison Williams' crazily calculated plan towards becoming a fashion it girl, Dunham's is a bit more humble and relatable. And we like that.
