As you're no doubt aware, those of us on the east coast are locking our doors, boarding our windows and stocking up on non-perishables (cookies, bread, wine, the three hurricane food groups), in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy's arrival.
Since we're all hunkered down in our apartments, it's hard to know exactly how the hurricane is progressing. Which is why we're lucky to have Nigel Barker--fashion photographer, reality TV personality and now, fearless weather reporter--giving us live updates via Twitter and Instagram.
Starting at 7:14 this morning, Barker began tweeting an oddly informative play-by-play of Sandy's progression from his apartment in the West Village:
Woke up to a dark and forbidding morning, winds beginning to groan past the windows. 1st raindrops beginning to fall now #sandy here we go!
#Sandy approaching NYC at 7.30 am view from my apt in West Village towards NJ
It's 8.30am and although its brighter the winds are picking up creating white caps on the Hudson #sandy
The Hudson River has breached it's banks 8.53 am #sandy
Is it just us or does Barker seem to have a bright future ahead of him as a weather reporter?
Seriously though guys, stay safe and stay inside!
