Still No Designer at Schiaparelli

A few weeks ago Diego Della Valle, the Italian businessman who's relaunching the Schiaparelli label, annoucned that he'd name a designer "soon." Well, it looks like "soon" just turned to "later," according to WWD. Farida Khelfa, who's a spokeswoman for the label, told editors at a luncheon in Paris that the first Schiaparelli show will be in "June or July." The first show had been tentatively planned for January, so that's a pretty significant delay. The reason?

A few weeks ago Diego Della Valle, the Italian businessman who's relaunching the Schiaparelli label, annoucned that he'd name a designer "soon." Well, it looks like "soon" just turned to "later," according to WWD.

Farida Khelfa, who's a spokeswoman for the label, told editors at a luncheon in Paris that the first Schiaparelli show will be in "June or July." The first show had been tentatively planned for January, so that's a pretty significant delay. The reason? There's no one to design the collection yet.

Khelfa said that Della Valle hasn't yet chosen a creative director, and she was vague about when it might happen. "We hope soon,” Khelfa told WWD. (The brand had originally hoped a creative director would be announced in September.)

Is this another Dior situation? If Dior taught us anything, it's that negotiating with designers is never straight forward--undoubtedly there's a lot going on behind the scenes. In the meantime, if Della Valle needs help, he can always consult our suggestions for who we think should design the label!
