It's finally here. After weeks of teasing, Brad Pitt's $7 million Chanel campaign was revealed at midnight on the dot--Paris time. It marks the first time Chanel has ever used a dude to front the iconic fragrance.
So how did Brad stack up to past No. 5 faces like Marilyn Monroe and Catherine Deneuve?
The commercial, titled "There You Are," is so serious it almost seems like an SNL spoof (paging Kristin Wiig for Red Flag). Directed by Joe Wright, the commercial shows a broody and introspective-looking Brad speaking directly to us (and by us, I mean me--only me) about journeys, non-journeys, the Earth's rotation, lost day planners, aggressive dreams, and a fragrant stalker who controls his life. No soundtrack, no color, no lush cityscapes--maybe Baz Luhrmann (and Mr. Pitt's hairdresser, for that matter) was busy that day?
Watch the full 30-second commercial below and tell us what you think: Is Brad Pitt a convincing spokesperson for Chanel No.5? And do you kind of wish he'd take that $7mil and at least get a trim?
