Alexa Chung, Stella McCartney Win Big at the British Fashion Awards
The British Fashion Awards--essentially Britain's answer to our CFDA Awards--took place at London's Savoy Hotel tonight and the winners are in.
Britain’s 2012 Olympic uniform designer Stella McCartney--last year's Red Carpet Award winner--won twice. She beat out Christopher Kane and Mary Katrantzou for the coveted Designer of the Year Award and Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Mulberry for the Designer Brand Award. They were presented to her by Salma Hayek and Amber Valetta, respectively.
Another big winner? Alexa Chung. She only won once tonight, but it was her third consecutive year winning the British Style Award, which is voted on by the public. Though, we can't really say we're surprised. She flawless.
Noticeably absent from the winners list? Burberry, Mulberry and McQueen, while relative newcomers like Roksanda Illincic, J.W. Anderson, and Jonathan Saunders got the official stamp of approval from the industry. Read on for a full list of winners. They're all names you ought to know and pay attention to--not only in London--but around the world as British fashion becomes increasingly important and influential.
