According to the Daily Mail, Lawrence told Elle:
"In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress."
Oof, if she's obese, then what are the majority of American women, who, on average wear a size 12?
But Lawrence isn't sweating Hollywood's unrealistic body image. The actress said that despite pressures to the contrary, she is a-okay with her size (as she well should be--she's stunning!). In fact, Lawrence said she's eager to set a healthy example for other women--particularly young girls.
"I’m never going to starve myself for a part… I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner. That’s something I was really conscious of during training, when you’re trying to get your body to look exactly right. I was trying to get my body to look fit and strong--not thin and underfed."
We hope other young actresses will follow Lawrence's lead. Wouldn't it be great if Hollywood changed their narrow view of what makes an actress's body beautiful, instead of the other way around?
