We've noticed a few trends from the spring 2013 Paris collections making their way into the new pre-fall collections--and this season, even trend-resistant Scott Sternberg was not immune to the power of le Smoking. Of course, to his credit, le Smoking has been around for ages and menswear-inspired blazers have always been a mainstay of Sternberg's Boy. line. Plus, his easy, cool-girl take is nothing like what you see on a Paris runway (in a good way).
In addition to le Smoking, Walter de Maria's The Lightning Field and Charlotte Rampling were listed as sources of inspiration. The former, a long-term outdoor sculpture installation situated in a desert in western New Mexico, can perhaps be seen in the collection's subdued, natural color palette and rigid silhouettes. The overall tomboyish-yet-elegant charm reflects the latter. Casual and easy, but in a very precise way.
The highlights, in my opinion, are the outerwear (including the perfect varsity jacket) and great tailored, menswear-inspired blazers and trousers, for which we know we'll always be able to count on Sternberg. Click through to peep the full collection.
