Celebrities weren't the only ones who brought their style A-game this year. 2012 also ushered in a whole new batch of street style stars.
We've already introduced you to Russia's fleet of paparazzi magnets, now let's take a look at some of the other impeccably dressed ladies who got Tommy Ton, Phil Oh and our own Ashley Jahncke snapping in 2012.
Between Leandra Medine's kooky-yet-classy mix, and sisters Natuka and Likuna Karkashadze's perfectly-coordinated outfits, there's no question that these women (and one pair of gents!) will keep you sartorially inspired well into 2013. Read on to see who made the cut.
Hometown: New York, NY Occupation: Man Repelling
Leandra Medine is not exactly new to fashion week--but her style has definitely gone up a notch in 2012. From diaper shorts to turbans to everything in between, she's certainly not one to shy away from a fashion risk. Plus she paired those diaper shorts with sneakers--she's practical!
Natuka and Likuna Karkashadze
Hometown: Tbilisi, Georgia Occupation: Natuka: Stylist and Blogger, Likuna: Auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers
This Georgian sibling duo are known for their coordinated but not matching outfits and penchant for odd prints and simple logos. They also rock matching bob haircuts and circle rimmed sunglasses, proving that style is sometimes genetic.
Hometown: Shanghai, China Occupation: Senior Fashion Editor at ELLE China
With her madcap mix of crazy prints, love of baseball caps and statement glasses, Leaf Greener (who also happens to have the coolest name we've heard in a while) definitely made a splash in the street style scene this year.
Hometown: Switzerland Occupation: Fashion Assistant to Camille Bidault-Waddington
Ursina Gysi's 1970s-meets-1990s redux style is the perfect antidote to street style that can feel a little too runway-inspired and über-trendy. Gysi masterfully blends old and new pieces to come up with a wholly unique look--plus she's usually seen with her boyfriend Dominic Haydn Rawle who has a bad-boy-but-not-afraid-to-look-fashun thing going for him.
Peter II and Harry Brant
Hometown: Greenwich, Connecticut Occupation: College and High School Students, Heirs
Despite being only 18 and 16, respectively, Peter II and Harry Brant's taste level is sophisticated beyond their years. Gold brocade capes? Got 'em. Bejeweled velvet suits? Definitely. Cravats? Duh. Despite their remarkable style, the Brant boys favor the nightlife circuit moreso than the street style scene outside the shows, but who can blame them? Why would you ever rub elbows with normals when you can be in the VIP section with Naomi Campbell?
Hometown: Turin, Italy Occupation: Blogger and Photographer
The world got familiar with Eleonora Carisi at the end of 2011 when she posed for a street style picture in a completely see through blouse sans bra. Since that hubbub she's proven that there's more to her style (like bras per se). She mostly favors fun, ladylike looks that put a modern, edgy spin on classic Italian styles.
Hometown: Luxembourg Occupation: Designer for The Kooples and Blogger
Anne-Catherine Frey has been popping up on street style blogs for a while now, but 2012 was her year to shine. With a freshly cropped hairdo and fearless style, Anne-Catherine made her mark on every major blog and fansite.
Miao Miao Zheng
Hometown: China Occupation: Stylist
Miao Miao and her blunt bob made news in street style this year, mostly because she emerged from relative obscurity to Tommy Ton-level-fodder in record time. She favors ladylike silhouettes with unexpected twists, you know, like a toddler portrait as a chestplate.
Balenciaga Egyptofunk Top
Hometown: Paris, France Occupation: Covering boobs, being ubitquitous
This thing was everywhere this year. And while it was cool on the runway, we think it's overstayed its welcome on the streets. Let's leave this one in 2012, okay?
