"In order to give continuity," the Missoni company said its menswear show will take place in Milan Sunday as scheduled. WWD reports it will be shown "solely to press and buyers."
This is despite the family's and Venezuelan authorities' continued search for the plane carrying Missoni's eldest heir, Vittorio, which has now gone on for six days. The trade also reports that the show will most likely not be attended by any of the Missoni family. The menswear line is designed by creative director Angela Missoni.
The family has been keeping in regular contact with the press and continues to maintain hope that the disappeared passengers are still alive. Missoni's oldest son, Ottavio, who received a text message from his father 48 hours after the plane disappeared, told Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera yesterday, "A plane cannot vanish in this way, on a short route, without leaving any trace. I remain convinced that the least plausible reason is that they crashed into the water," suggesting his father may have been kidnapped.
